In today’s economy a postsecondary credential is crucial to attain social mobility and a family sustaining wage. In Chicago, nearly 75% of Chicago Public Schools students aspire to obtain a bachelor’s degree, but only 30% of current CPS ninth-graders are projected to obtain a degree. As OneGoal’s founding region, we are here to empower students to not only pursue a postsecondary education but to realize their aspirations and earn their degrees.

This spring, we brought together nearly 200 OneGoal students from high schools across Chicago to gain vital skills and career insights through interactive workshops and panels. Volunteers from the business community also helped students edit their resumes, conducted mock interviews, shared their elevator pitches, and taught students how to navigate their finances.
Whether trying to make friends in college or coping with the loss of her dad, DePaul University sophomore Huda Ganatra has leaned on the support of her OneGoal community in order to stay on track to earn her degree in Accounting.
