About OneGoal
OneGoal transforms postsecondary advising and support so that every student can define their own future. Together with our partners, we’re building a movement to close the opportunity gap. We work side-by-side with partner schools and districts to build their knowledge and capacity. The result is more effective support for all students. Our unique approach, honed over 15 years, prioritizes strong human relationships. And it’s proven to deliver real student impact: An independent study by the University of Chicago found that OneGoal students are about 40% more likely to earn their postsecondary degrees than students from similar backgrounds. At OneGoal you’ll be immersed in a culture of collaboration, shared purpose, and collective impact.
The Person
As the Manager of Postsecondary Success, your mission is to support a portfolio of Year 3 Fellows (students in their first year of a postsecondary pathway) to enroll and persist in a quality four-year college, two-year college, progressive pathway, or military. You will be responsible for providing tiered, hybrid advising that supports Fellows’ financial, academic, and social well-being necessary to pursue and complete a postsecondary degree or certification aligned with their aspirations. You will do this by:
Providing digital support and occasional direct advising to a caseload of Fellows (70%)
- Engage Y3 Fellows in targeted advising sessions based on data analysis
- Collaborate with the team to ensure clear and timely communication plans with Fellows
- Run regular analyses of your caseload to monitor progress and inform your strategy
Contributing to a cohesive program strategy by collaborating with other Texas and broader OneGoal staff (30%)
- Support the planning and implementation of trainings and supports
- Partner with regional and national colleagues to both support local priorities and inform and improve Y3 program implementation
The Manager of Postsecondary Success is likely to see himself/herself/themselves in the following examples as they are designed to help you determine if this opportunity aligns with your own passion, purpose, skills, and experiences.
You believe deeply in the brilliance of all students and their ability to earn a postsecondary degree or certification.
- You believe that our Fellows face real systemic barriers to postsecondary completion and understand how to empower youth through the unique challenges and opportunities that first-generation college students may face.
You are ok “in the gray.”
- You know that in innovative work, the rules are never set in stone, and you are excited to be a part of figuring out the solution.
- You prefer to work without a “guidebook” and are energized by a blank slate.
You are a problem solver.
- You use data to analyze trends and synthesize the most impactful problem or opportunity.
- You contribute to the team’s development of differentiated plans of support to advance our progress toward goals both quantitative and qualitative.
- You often identify multiple options for diving into a problem or challenge and are interested in developing multiple solutions to a given challenge.
- When there is a setback you accept responsibility and accountability and use setbacks as an opportunity to learn.
You are organized and have a keen attention to detail.
- Things don’t fall through the cracks with you because you understand what’s at stake. You’re proactive in establishing personal systems and processes to ensure your ability to keep track of high volumes of information, to easily access it and to use that information to make data-informed decisions.
- You are a strong planner and are constantly assessing your priorities to manage self/up/out on diverse projects, against competing deadlines and around unanticipated requests. This allows you to be responsive to the needs of others and solve problems as they arise.
Execution is your wheelhouse.
- You get things done. People know you as someone they can depend on to come through for them. You are trusted by your colleagues because you follow through on your commitments and you circle back and close the loop on communication cycles.
- You’ve demonstrated the ability to work diligently towards your goals and can comfortably pivot and try new strategies when challenges arise or priorities shift.
- Even though you are highly effective at executing, you don’t go at it alone. You know that collaboration and teamwork is key to innovation and you are comfortable investing people in a project and leading a project team towards a rigorous execution of your plan.
Qualifications:
- Lived experience of the Fellows we serve (Preferred)
- Project management experience (Preferred)
- Experience with college advising and/or persistence support (Preferred)
- Knowledge of and experience navigating postsecondary systems and structures [eg. FAFSA, Common Application, etc.] (Required)
