Location Classification: Hybrid role – Candidate is expected to visit the office 3x a week for mail 

Salary Range: $60,278 – $63,450 is the hiring salary range (i.e. the range a candidate would be offered to start).

The Person

The Manager, Human Assets will lead and manage a number of crucial workstreams that enable a strong staff experience and organizational compliance. As the Manager of Human Assets, you won’t just be handling paperwork; you’ll be actively shaping the operational foundation that allows our staff to thrive and our organization to reach its mission. You understand that legal adherence is simply the starting point for HR excellence. You thrive on the challenge of developing innovative policies and solutions by actively listening to and addressing employee needs. You’ll ensure our systems and processes are seamless (direct staff support, benefits administration, leave administration and compliance), so our staff can focus their energy on the students we serve.

Your core responsibilities will include:

Benefits Administration (50%) 

  • Providing reliable Benefits Administration to ensure access to and understanding of our Total Rewards for all staff
  • Supporting staff with benefits enrollment (new hires, qualifying life events, and stewarding Open Enrollment)
  • Answering questions about our Total Rewards offerings and providing FreshDesk ticket responses in a timely manner
  • Maintaining healthy relationships with our carriers and broker, to support compliance and a positive experience for staff
  • Conducting timely processing of offboarding steps in HRIS as well as with carriers/vendors

Leaves Administration (30%)

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for employees, people managers and external leave partners, ensuring timely communication with all stakeholders
  • Coordinating with external vendors (e.g., leave management vendor, short-term disability carrier) for claims support and enabling a seamless employee experience
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential records, ensuring proper documentation storage and tracking in HRIS
  • Reviewing, recommending, and implementing improvements to current leave policies and processes to enable efficiencies and improved employee experience
  • Staying current on pending and new legislation related to FMLA, ADA, and state/local leaves to proactively adjust company policies

Compliance (20%)

  • Administering background checks, related processes such as fingerprinting, and employee eligibility verifications (I-9s)
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Reviewing and scanning HA mail (in-office time required) and escalating any items as necessary
  • Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Identifying ways to maximize our use of our HRIS and others systems to streamline our work

 

You will execute on these responsibilities by:

  • Providing timely, proactive, informative support to our staff members on their basic Human Assets (HA) needs and requests 
  • Synthesize trends to inform our ongoing strategy and policy/process improvements
  • Updating and maintaining our data management systems and SOPs with a close attention to detail 
  • Engaging key stakeholders and partners in relevant HA decision making and in fostering a supportive work environment where all can thrive
  • Respecting the sensitivity of information that you’ll be handling and taking precautions to keep staff data secure and confidential

Qualifications: 

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in an HR generalist-like role, with demonstrated expertise in benefits administration and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage and optimize an HRIS/HR software platform.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • A strong service-orientation and commitment to fostering a positive, human-centered staff experience.
  • Preference for a candidate with strong experience working with external vendors
