Despite the vast innovation in California, not all communities have benefited from the wealth generated by the technology boom. The Bay Area is home to nine counties and high schools in countless school districts – some of which are the most affluent in the nation. Yet only 44% of Black and 32% of Latino adults have attained an associate’s degree or higher compared to 73% of their white peers. This is not for lack of ambition or talent, but for lack of opportunity and support.
“I am excited about having OneGoal at Oakland Tech as an offering for our students. It took the support of teachers and others in my own community to shepherd me through college, and I’m glad OneGoal will provide that support for our students. ”

Hear from students Hiromi, Gabriel, and Esther about their postsecondary journey and experience with OneGoal.
Their amazing OneGoal Program Director and teacher Elizabeth Hunter shares how postsecondary planning contributes to closing the opportunity gap in the Bay Area.
We partner with 10 high schools across two districts and several charter networks to integrate postsecondary planning into the school day. We aim to bring high-quality postsecondary advising to many more young people, with a goal to reach 5,000 students annually by 2030.
“As a first generation college student myself, I understand the challenges and systemic barriers that prevent many students from gaining college knowledge/access. My life’s work is to continue exposing the hidden curriculum in education so that all students know and feel that they have the power and choice to further their education.”
