About OneGoal
OneGoal transforms postsecondary advising and support so that every student can define their own future. Together with our partners, we’re building a movement to close the opportunity gap. We work side-by-side with partner schools and districts to build their knowledge and capacity. The result is more equitable and effective support for all students. Our unique approach, honed over 15 years, prioritizes strong human relationships. And it’s proven to deliver real student impact. 81% of OneGoal high school graduates enroll in a postsecondary institution, and 73% of those students persist one year after high school graduation. An independent study by the University of Chicago found that OneGoal students are about 40% more likely to earn their postsecondary degrees than students from similar backgrounds. We are looking for individuals to join us in our pursuit of equity.
The Person
As a Director of Teacher Support, your mission is to coach our Program Directors (teachers) to deliver the OneGoal program, reflect on our past experiences and data, set purposeful and measurable goals, develop key mindsets and knowledge around Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP), and thoughtfully prioritize our work in a way that drives us efficiently toward our vision that every young person in New York City will have equitable opportunity to achieve their greatest postsecondary aspirations. Ultimately, your work is most proximate to our community members who impact the outcomes of our program and will drive us towards our strategic shift in creating a Culturally Responsive Program Director and Fellow experience to help strengthen enrollment and persistence outcomes in New York City.
You will do this by:

- Developing and leveraging strong relationships with PDs and differentiated support plans to influence your portfolio of teachers using a CRP lens to facilitate strong Fellow outcomes
- Working closely with the New York Program Team (NYPT) to integrate strong enrollment strategies.
- Utilizing quantitative and qualitative data to create individualized plans to accelerate PD learning and deliver a high quality programmatic experience for Fellows
- Working collaboratively with other Directors of Teacher Support to expand the design and delivery of professional development to develop your PDs
Supporting our team’s vision and direction for strengthening postsecondary outcomes (25%)
- Collaborating closely with the National Program Team and other regional program team members to broaden and strengthen postsecondary pathways for our Fellows
- Providing supports for Fellows to directly access content and resources that will impact and enrollment and persistence outcomes
- Supporting direct-to-Fellow initiatives (e.g., texting campaigns, resource websites, office hours) that provide additional resources to students remotely
- Supporting technology implementation (our Learning Management System: Canvas) in our classrooms for Program Directors and Fellows
- Providing differentiated support to an identified target population of Fellows to invest them in an authentic and personalized postsecondary plan in order to ensure that your cohort persists at the rate of our determined annual persistence goals.
- Supporting direct-to-Fellow initiatives (e.g., texting campaigns, resource websites, emergency funds, office hours) that provide additional resources to students remotely
- Supporting design, editing, and technical support for OneGoal’s curriculum (via our LMS, Canvas)
The Director of Teacher Support is likely to see himself/herself/themselves in the following examples as they are designed to help you determine if this opportunity aligns with your own passion, purpose, skills, and experiences.
You believe deeply in our Fellows and their ability to achieve their greatest postsecondary aspirations.
- You believe that our Fellows face real systemic barriers to college graduation, and that empowering their families, their teachers (PDs) and them to own their unique path will help them to overcome those barriers.
- You know different frameworks for identity development, especially for our youth.
You know the postsecondary landscape in NYC.
- You’ve seen first-hand the barriers that stop our Fellows from persisting in college and have already been working on some solutions, or have some ideas on what needs to be done. Our teachers would benefit from your expertise.
- You understand the 2- and 4-year postsecondary space in New York City and across the state. You are keenly aware of the unique challenges OneGoal Fellows will face as they enter the postsecondary space and have experience developing strategies to support this population of students. You know what a “smart” investment in a postsecondary education will look like for different OneGoal Fellows.
You believe in the power of coaching and are skilled at building transformative relationships where you work.
- You believe that your impact can be greater when you empower others, that all teachers have the ability to be great, and that even great teachers can achieve more with additional resources and support.
- You know every learner is different, and you know how to adjust your coaching to meet their needs.
- You build relationships quickly, consistently, and authentically.
- Creating strong and relevant teacher training experiences excites you, and because you understand that adult learners are unique, you strive to create trainings that are rigorous, inspiring, and transformative experiences for Program Directors. You consistently collect and use feedback to build the right experiences for PDs.
