Dear football fans,
I’m Brendan Santalab and I play for the Western Sydney Wanderers.
I am excited and proud to be a champion for child nutrition and an ambassador for One Goal. As a football player, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle are key to becoming a champion on the field.
Through this campaign I can promote an initiative that is personal and important to me. Every child in Asia should be able to eat, play, and live right.
Millions of children born in Asia enter the world at a disadvantage compared to children elsewhere. The nutritional playing field is shockingly uneven, with millions of children born each year carrying the burden of poor nutrition and the irreversible damage it can cause throughout their whole life.
Having played in China, Singapore and now Australia the Asian region means a great deal to me and the fact that a child born today into a poor community in Asia will not have the same opportunity to participate and develop through organised sport as their counterparts in Europe needs to change.
We need to help the 87 million Asian children under the age of five who are underweight, the 100 million children in Asia who are stunted because they do not consume the nutrients needed to develop properly and the 16.5 million children under five who are overweight and obese.
Help the AFC, the Western Sydney Wanderers and myself in bringing change to millions of Asia's children.
